Stigmatizing bullying

If it’s that easy to stigmatize and marginalize the people who are being bullied, isn’t it just as easy to stigmatize the bullies? Won’t it stop them?

The act of pushing others down is primitive. The act of pulling others up is civilized. The fact alone is powerful.

I personally believe that bullies need help. They probably have little control over their genetic programming, have suppressed pains from their life, have underdeveloped empathy, or have no control in other areas of their life, none of which are really their fault at a very young age.

Stigmatizing may cause bullies to get deeper into whatever they are suffering and lash out in an explosive way later. Possibly what helps more is to see bullying as an indicator of a child in desperate need for help or as a symptom of a mental illness.
